iRadioPhilly started as an internet radio streaming experiment in 2010. Since then, iRadioPhilly has organically grown in popularity and more new stations have been created and added. iRadioPhilly now has over 20 locally produced radio stations available on the website and on free apps for iPhone and Android.
What is your primary product or service?
iRadioPhilly offers 23 streaming radio stations in a variety of genres - music and comedy - all FREE to listeners thanks to advertiser and sponsor support. iRadioPhilly's pledge of "more music and fewer commercials" limits the interruptions and keeps the music flowing. Everything from Bach to Rock! And programmed just for Philadelphia. iRadioPhilly even has a radio station that plays local artists exclusively. iRadioPhilly broadcasts live from local music events and festivals and keeps local listeners up to date on information most important to Philadelphia area - news, sports, weather, businesses, events, concerts and more.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The iRadioPhilly team is made up of music fans and radio industry pros. As streaming radio technology began to develop, iRadioPhilly recognized the opportunity to offer more listening choices than were available on AM or FM radio. And listeners were interested in radio choices with fewer commercials.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
iRadioPhilly is local. That's different from Pandora, Spotify and other song services. iRadioPhilly keeps Philadelphia area listeners informed about what is important to them. The Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, 76ers, Union, City Six college basketball, concerts, events, local businesses and the thriving local music scene around Philly. iRadioPhilly plays far fewer commercials than FM radio.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
iRadioPhilly has plans to add more radio stations. As the audience grows, iRadioPhilly listens to the listeners and adds new stations that listeners are asking for.
