The members of Legion XXIV represent the legionary soldiers and citizens of Ancient Rome which at that time was the superpower of the Ancient World. The Roman Legionary Army was the first professional fighting force in world history, being sanctioned and supported by a national government through taxes paid by its citizens. At the height of the Roman Empire in 117 AD, Rome controlled 35% of the world’s population and you could travel from England, through Europe, into Asia-Minor and Northern Africa with one passport, one currency and one language. The area occupied by Ancient Rome is now 40 separate countries. The government, laws, engineering, culture and language of Ancient Rome became the foundation of our modern Western Society. Please stop by our encampment and we will be pleased to discuss the heritage of Ancient Rome with you.
