Lampire Biological Laboratories is a privately-owned biotechnology company, headquartered in Ottsville, PA (Bucks County). The company was founded in 1977 and began supplying specialized reagents to the biomedical industry. Since then, Lampire has continued to lead the industry in product development and has grown steadily, now operating six facilities throughout Bucks, Lehigh, and Bedford counties.
Lampire is a leading supplier to biopharmaceutical, diagnostic, and medical device manufacturers, plus academic and government research institutes worldwide. Its products and services include custom monoclonal and polyclonal antibody development, cell culture products and services, plasma-derived products, immunochemical reagents, contract manufacturing, custom product filling and labeling, and zebrafish teratogenicity studies among many others.
Lampire’s Biotech Research and Resource Center is available for out-sourcing projects. The center offers Class 10,000 clean room manufacturing suites, testing laboratories, bulk reagent manufacturing, filling and labeling capabilities, subassembly and final kit packaging, cryopreservation and cell banking services, tissue culture suites, plus antibody purification, conjugation, and characterization. This site is operated under a cGMP Quality System.
New to Lampire’s service portfolio are Supply Chain Profit Maximization (SCPM) and teratogenicity studies. The SCPM service provides a confidential evaluation of a supply chain identified by the client as a cost reduction/profit maximization candidate. At the end of the evaluation, a step-by-step plan is supplied to reach the desired goals. Lampire’s teratogenicity studies, using zebrafish and rat embryos, are cost-effective methods for evaluating potential drug compounds. Embryos are cultured in a dose range of the compound of interest, then scored for developmental defects at 5 days post-fertilization.
Leading the way in global business development, three of Lampire’s facilities were the first in PA to obtain EC No. 1774/2002 Regulation compliance, allowing shipment of animal products into the European Union. Fittingly, the owner and president of Lampire, Gregory F. Krug, won the honor of US Small Business Administration Exporter of the Year for the Mid-Atlantic Region shortly thereafter.
Since its inception, Lampire has continued to expand and innovate. Recent milestones include constructing a state-of-the-art antibody development facility, releasing a novel cell culture device, opening an 18,000 sq. ft. bioprocessing laboratory, and adding a western US regional office in San Diego, CA.
Lampire is committed to providing quality products and services to the biomedical community, taking extra care to comply with its customers’ requirements, specifications, and standards. To learn more about Lampire, visit www.lampire.com.
